Glad I didnt stay up till 1am to see that given the outcome, but it was even exciting following it on here 10 hours later.
Thanks to all those who stayed up and left the report, really appreciated.
Disappointing result for Anne of course, but surely a lot of positives she can take from the week, did she get ahead of herself or did Bartoli just turn it on when she needed to?
A break in womens tennis seems less important, the better player just wins the games regardless of who is serving which is why it can go from 1-0 to 1-4 to 5-4 just like it did, but still a gutting loss.

She had a double break. But Marion did start playing amazingly well from 1-4 down.. I suppose she just thought "Im almost out, might as well go for broke". Anyway they has been a great tournament. Her first Tier II (outside of britain) and almost a chance to beat her first top 15 player so it is very encouraging. Shes going to have many, many chances in this fall to go one further and maybe her stamina was just a bit low considering she had played 4 matches previously and Bartoli only one...
The L.A draw should come out in the early hours of Sunday morning (I think) so hopefully she will be able to get a good draw and do well there. Come on Anne! The US Open is also around the corner and that is very exciting. Hopefully she can confirm her place as an AO DA in a few weeks.

She did well to get into the winning position, but you shouldn't lose a match when you are a double break up in the 3rd though, which has to be a slight disappointment.
She showed she's good enough to get to a winning position though, which is encouraging, but she isn't going to get too many chances like she had today to beat a top 15 player and reach a Tier II QF.
Hope she bounces back from this and thinks that she played well enough to have a great chance of winning, rather than thinking about how she 'choked' at the end
If you can't outplay your opponent you have to out-psych them, which Bartoli did. She tried the trainer break which just increased Anne's confidence. She then tried the loo break which also failed. Finally she tried crowding Anne's serve which put pressure on the part of Anne's game where she was least confident. A world rank 15 player will always find one more way of rescuing a lost game from a rank 75 player. I am sure Anne will go away and find a way to counter that next time it crops up.
This time Neil Harman hasn't bothered to be subtle. Since it's common knowledge that he reads here, he just decided to cut and paste Peter too's post as an "eyewitness account".
