I thought there was a thread for this in the general section, but doesn't seem to have been covered last year. Probably should be in there as it is both men and women.
I went down to Felixstowe today to watch a few group 6 ladies matches. Nice day in the sun by the sea !
The only thread I could find for Summer County Cup were in this section....I know womens results in here too, so hope no one minds
Day 2 Men: Kent and Suffolk top the board with 4 points (saw Suffolk team at Felixstowe a few weeks ago, all that training on grass seems to be paying off). Kent pair James Davis and Matt Summer have only dropped one match against Herts pair George Coupland and Neil Bamford.
Herts lost a hard fought battle 4-5 against Suffolk today and along with and Wales are at the bottom with zero points. Allegedly Herts Ed Corrie will be arriving from Australia to join the team later in the week.
Herts and Middlesex women top their draw with 4 points each.
I'll add a little from the Division 1 ladies. Might dp a seperate ladies thread later in the week when a few more matches have been played.
Some big matches today as well.
Herts beat Surrey 6-3, with Emily Arbuthnott undefeated (with Annabel Davis(2) and Amanda Elliott) and winning the big match with Emily Appleton/Katie Morris
Middlesex beat Warwickshire 7-2 with Holly Hutchinson/Ella Taylor and Tiffany William (+Megan Forster(2) and Frances Brewester) undefeated
Yorkshire beat Essex 5-4. Two wins for Eleanor Dean/Holly Horsfield including beating Aimee Gibson/Olivia Sofroniou who won their other two matches.
So Herts and Middlesex are tied at the top on two wins, Essex and Warwickshire both have two losses.
Kent are top of the draw with a convincing 7-2 win over last years group 1 winners Suffolk. Those only dropping 1 match so far this week are Kents James Davis/Matt Summers and Francis Sargent pairing with Sean Thornley/Lewis Burton.
Essex completed the day with 6-3 win against Middlesex; their pairing of Ryan Peniston and David Wright have also only lost a single match so far this week.
Herts had their first win of the week in a tight 5-4 match against S Wales. Ed Corrie joined the Herts team today and with Charlie Broom the pair had 3 wins. S. Wales also switched around their team, but could not manage to overcome Herts and are bottom of the draw.
Tomorrow is set to be one of the hottest days of the year as Middlesex v Kent, Herts v Essex and S. Wales v Suffolk

I did this last year too, players from Men's Div One County Cup, apart from County Cup, they played as follows.
54% of them played Team Tennis (this is reasonable I think)
39% of them played British Tour (reasonable)
30% didn't play any other singles tournament this year to date (shocking)
26% only played County Cup and Team Tennis (shocking)
22% of them played another form of singles tournament registered on the LTA website (shocking)
These stats are just a snapshot of how poor the tournament scene is in the UK, so many of our best players simply don't play.

Just noticed East of Scotland (with Jamie's old coach Alan MacDonald) secured promotion to division one next year albeit exactly tying with poor Cambridge (Tom Hands, Harry Wendelken) on Match Points, Rubbers and Sets! EoS were ahead on games difference but it was the head to head that counted. Jacob Fearnley and Euan McIntosh won all 15 of their doubles rubbers, which means they win showcourt tickets and an invite to the Wimbledon ****tail party for next year...nice of the LTA to support with prizes. Amazing achievement with some very good teams, including Surrey in division 2.

Interesting stats B2WT- many of the players you have listed are at D1 universities in the USA and so are out of the country for most of the year. Most of the others down as not playing many other matches are coaches.
I think that's one of the great things about county cup, apart from being one of the few team events, is the 'younger players' play alongside or against the coaches (many of whom are former D1 players) and the level is very high.

Not sure if anyone interested, but celebrating its 125th anniversary, as the LTA Summer County Cup returns with hundreds of tennis players taking to the courts to represent their Counties all across the country, following the cancellation of last years event, owing to the pandemic.
First played in 1895, County Week is one of the longest running tournaments in the tennis calendar with the pandemic meaning that last year was the first time other than during the two World Wars that the competition had not taken place. With the much loved event making a return this year, Monday 19 to Friday 23 July will see 44 counties across seven groups compete at 13 grass court venues up and down the country.
Kent are the reigning men's champions, clinching the 2019 trophy after being newly promoted into Group 1 that year. Hertfordshire Ladies defeated Warwickshire on the final day to win the womens event, with Emily Arbuthnott performing outstandingly for Hertfordshire winning 15 rubbers out of 15
Half way through the week and last years winners Kent and Herts currently top the group 1 leader boards. Strength and depth in both of these teams.
On one of the hottest days of the year, Kent were pushed all the way by East of Scotland today. Emily Arb has turned out for Herts Ladies - not seen her name anywhere since she finished her post-grad course at Stanford. Most of the teams seem to be a mix of college players, pro's and coaches. Great to see a wide range of ages playing together, from 17 to those in their 40's
It is what it is a throw back to the good old days of amateur tennis, a tournament many top youngsters enjoyed and go back to while at college, on the British tour or after they have committed to coaching, I just wish it would be expanded a bit into the local communities from each regional centre. Its history gives it a status that could be utilised to embed competitive tennis into the communities a bit more.
I liked the way Ojai works as the end of season tournament for the PAC-12 (probably similar standard to Group 1, although Emily usually did very well unlikely to win all her rubbers if playing No 1) but it also sits on top of a wider mass participation community tournament, community colleges, fiercely competitive age group, vets & open tournaments Brings the best players committed to the local tennis industry from across California.

A week of fantastic weather down in Eastbourne and in a repeat of the 2019 results , group 1 County Cup winners are Kent and another fantastic win for Hertfordshire ladies. Bottom of the group 1 tables and moving down to group 2 are Suffolk and Surrey (m) and Leicestershire and Middlesex (w).
Winners of group 2 and being promoted to group 1 next year are Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire (m) and Northumberland and Kent (w).
County Cup Week 2022 - What a week weather wise!!!
Kent and E Scotland take an early lead in the mens Div 1
College grads Finn Bass and Charlie Broom lost to a strong Kent pairing of Matt Summers and James Davies. My perennial fave Neil Bamford is playing for Herts.
