Yes, Drew. smile.gif

Good day for anyone called Daniel or anything like that. Daniel Evans and Daniel Cox won, as did Daniel Danilovic. Daniel Smethurst lost, but he was playing Marcus Daniell, so one had to lose.

Evans may sneak into the main draw next week anyway.... he's 5th alternate at the moment, but only 17 players have a DE (and 20 will, barring SE's), so he only needs 2 players to pull out.

It's Bamford, Illingworth, Feaver, Hewitt, Bains, Milton (and Flanagan and Kinsella if the SE are cleared)

12 results so far.... and 10 British winners!!!

Bit close for Evans, Cox, Feaver and Illingworth but they all got the win, while good results for Hewitt and Arlidge, and a stunning win for Flanagan.

1 guarenteed SF, and only Danilovic and Daniell stand in the way of 2 more...

18 players have direct acceptances, actually, as there are two SE spots. The ITF guys often take time to bump up a player when someone withdraws.

Or so I think...

I thought 13 points-scorers among the GB men last week was pretty good, but just counting down the top 25 table (which I've just updated with the latest results), we already have 17 players (12 in the GB top 25 and 5 others) who have scored at least one ranking point this week with 1 match in SEN, 1 match in Bing and a few matches in Wrexham with results still unknown - I'm sure that's a record since I've been doing this stuff. biggrin

Of course, that's 3 of the top 4 seeds gone too - not only is there a mass of blue-highlighted Ws on the table, when I check for next opponents, they're mainly other Brits too!

Yeah, it is 18, but the ITF only have 17 players in the main draw at the moment.

Not surprisingly, the top quarter wasn't nearly as good as the other three. I'm not sure whether the Wardinator losing to Watling is very impressive for Ashley, very worrying for Alex or both.

R16 :

RODRIGUES, M [1] v WATLING, Ashley GBR

GRIGOROV, Alexei v REIX, Clement [6]

MILTON, Joshua GBR v EVANS, Daniel GBR

DANILOVIC, Daniel v FEAVER, James [8] GBR

ILLINGWORTH, M GBR [7] v ARLIDGE, Burnham GBR

COX, Daniel GBR v FLANAGAN, Ian GBR

BAMFORD, Neil [5] GBR v HEWITT, Tim GBR

DANIELL, Marcus v KINSELLA, Jonathan GBR

So we will defo get 4 Brit quarter finalists with 1 Brit in the Semis for sure.

11 Brits to 5 non-Brits...

And what a win for Kinsella...really big upset there !

Can't really complain about that day really, with 11 Brits into the second round, at least 4 in the QF's, and 1 in the SF's... if only every British futures was like this one....

I'd say that Evans, Illingworth, Cox, Bamford and Kinsella are going to get through tomorrow, with a 50/50 chance for Feaver, while Watling will lose to Rodrigues, who unfortunately is probably still the favourite for the tournament.

tbh honest that's what I thought but didn't want to say if you didn't agree! smile.gif

For what its worth I thought you showed the potential to be really good, although I think you got ever so slightly creative with one fo the balls you called out on the sideline laughing.gif

Great attitude mate - You'll get there!

Impressed with Bains taking a set from Bamford, and Alastair BArnes taking a set of the French seed is good going too!

I worry that Flan will have a hot week and take Coxy out.

Some good doubles results there as well.

Fleming and Corrie have to be favourites to win in my book.

Nice to see Chauders and El Menshawy register a win but they need another win to score a point right?

I love that only one match all day doesn't feature at least one Brit! clap.gif
