To expand a bit on that - good serves, some nice volleys, good aggression at time (if a bit wayward) but I'm not keen on his trick of trying to get the ball to go under the net - I don't think he'd get any points for it!

Serving from Slabba was generally impressive though a few double faults in the first set. He has some really hot spells on serve. Seems to want to come into the net behind his serve though the number of actual serve + volley plays was quite low. Volleys were good.
On return I was surprised he wasn't more aggressive, seemed to be standing a bit deep to return against second. Lobs were terrible and his defensive play generally wasn't up to much but he does have the sliced backhand and the top spin to change it up.
He does have potential. There were a lot of good things about his performance even against a modest opponent.
lol. One of the funniest threads I've ever read thorugh!
Well done to Slabba for getting the win. He seems to be learning to win even when he's playing ugly, or should I say not as beautifully as we know he can!
Rodrigues is a step-up but he's lost to lesser players than Slabba so there's every chance

I second that and would like to add that it was definitely the best commentary of a match I've ever read, not least becuase it was a futures match! Thank you both for a thoroughly good laugh with a lovely big W at the end for Slabba.
Can I book you both for the SF please?

Reading the commentaries eighteen hours after the events was just hilarious - thanks, Steven, Kundalini and Jake. I do like the notion of the new sport with which Alex seems to have been experimenting - limbo tennis?
