The Junior Davis Cup for under 16s starts today in Mexico, with 16 nations divided into 4 round robin groups. The British team of Ashley Hewitt, James Marsalek and George Morgan (under the captaincy of Greg Ruedski) is seeded 8th and finds itself in Group D:
India [2] Brazil Mexico Great Britain [8]
They open up today against the host nation according to the ITF overall draw, but the separate day 1 schedule says it is Brazil.
The doubles rubber against Brazil was lost, so they lost that tie 1-2.
In their next tie against India, each team won one singles rubber - GB no. 3 Ashley Hewitt beat Indian no. 2 Saurabh Singh 6-4 6-7(5) 6-4 but GB no. 1 James Marsalek got thrashed 1 & 0 by the very strong Indian no. 1 Yuki Bhambri.
Again, the doubles rubber had to be held over to the following day, but with Bhambri in the Indian pair (against Marsalek and George Morgan), I fear they might lose that tie too.
