Skupski loses 2 & 2 cry

Kind of expected, I've just realised - Robert has played 7 Brits since the start of September and never conceded more than 4 games. The better ones (Fleming, Josh and now Ken) have got 4, the rest (Arlidge x 2, Flan and Fitzy) have got 3. He's becoming a bit of a menace in GB events like Tsonga used to be - the only Brit to beat him last year was Boggo.

Also, today's results should secure Colin the GB no. 11 slot ahead of Ken, if only on tiebreak, though of course things could change before the points from here go on the rankings at the end of the AO. There's a big gap between Evo in 10th and those below him.

to be honest there was more chance of heather small winning come dancing than there was of skupski winning this title.

And will play Lacko, the fourth seed, in tomorrow's SF after he beat Nieminen 7-6(7) 6-3. fear.gif  Still if he can do for the top seed in the first round, why not the fourth in the SF...? pray.gif  That said, Lacko is probably a bit more, how shall I put it, steadfast than Bloomers... hmm

And finally...

... the doubles results:

(1)  Col & Ken motor on, beating Bradshaw & Brassington 6-2 7-6(5);

(2)  Jamie B makes up to some extent for his singles defeat by joining Chris Eaton to beat the third seeds, Belyaev & Krotiuk, by 3 & 2, which means Col & Ken (1) are the only seeds left in the draw! biggrin

*  The above two pairs meet in the SF in the top half.

(3)  Alexander Bull & Thomas Knights lost to Jouan & Ysern by 0 & 1, but Dan S & Marcus Willis carried on their merry way, beating King & O'Brien 7-6(4) 6-3 & so face J & Y in the other SF.

Good luck, lads! pray.gif

'Twould appear from tomorrow's OoP that Jamie B & Chris did for the top seeds, Col & Ken, 7-5 6-4 and Dan & Marcus succumbed to another French onslaught 6-1 7-5 ( good effort in the 2nd set).

Not before 15.00: Jamie Baker & Chris Eaton v Jouan & Ysern.

Jeepers creepers!  Flemski beaten 5 & 4 by Jamie B & Chris Eaton! disbelief.gif  While I feel kinda sorry for Colin & Ken, I'm absolutely delighted to see Jamie B & Chris start to get something out of this tournament.  Fingers crossed for the final against them thar pesky Frogs, who disposed of Dan S & Marcus Willis by 1 & 5 ( bleh ).

Final:

Jamie Baker & Chris Eaton (WR 1306) vs Romain Jouan & Pierrick Ysern (FRA/WR 1254)

They're not that far apart in the rankings, so here's hoping... pray.gif  please.gif

25 matches ago, on about 1 October against Gemouchidis and Leonte in Greece.

That 24 match winning streak was amazing, but maybe he's more concerned with saving himself for singles this week - it would make sense.

Flembo marches on. I'd be interested to see if Robert plays in French futures as much as in GB futures!

Not an all guns blazing start to the year but some encouraging wins for Skupski and Milton and a pretty good show from Evo.

And it's just fantastic to see Jamie Baker's name on a drawsheet. All the best to him for the comeback.
