During the winter Grand Prix tournaments have been held for our juniors in 5 different agebands, culminating in a series of Masters events at the National Tennis Centre during January and February.
The first of these this weekend is the 18 and under Masters, which includes the Thomson twins, Oliver Golding, Ashley Hewitt, Alexandra Walker and Katie Gater amongst others. Here are the draws (and round 1 results for the girls):
The 14&U Masters took place this weekend with a strong field, including all of the squads who have reached the finals of the TE Winter Cup. Evan Hoyt and Dasha Konotoptseva were early casualties, but otherwise the seeds progressed to the later stages, with the top seeds winning.
Boy's Singles Final:
(1) Luke Bambridge (Notts) bt (3) Christopher Pearce (Bucks) 6-4 6-7 (7-9) 7-5
Well done Lila - saw her demonstrate at Wimbledon last year. To me she looks really "sweet" but having seen Laura aged nine would suggest that there is quite a difference between the two - not least physically.
James Hignett is English, the family are living in South Wales cus of the dads work. I asked them what they think of Wales and their reply isn't printable! lets just say they have lived in better places!
i think hes definately more welsh than english, hes represented wales in the past and hes also part of our south wales mens team now!!! maybe the family were having a bad day when you spoke to them.
