Regarding coverage - Pretty sure I heard in sports bulletin that they will be broadcasting the game on 5 live...Though may have been 5 live Sports Extra.
Very well done by Laura. A shame we won't be able to see it, but I suppose it is not the fault of the BBC - if the Aussies don't have cameras on that court tomorrow - and why should they, no Aussie player involved - then neither the BBC nor any of the other broadcasters can show it.
The temperature is forecast to peak at a mere 35C(95F) tonight as opposed to 45.1C (113F) last night. However I believe the Rod Laver Arena is air conditioned so the match should start on time anyway.
I'm thinking (hoping) that she will win in 3 sets but I expect it to be tight
If it had been in the early rounds on an outside court I would have picked Pervak to continue her impressive winning run (10 straight sets wins in Juniors this year). I think being a final and in a big arena will suit Laura more, with her Wimbledon experience, so I tip Laura to win.
Pervak is ranked 6 places above the GB number 4 Katie O'Brien. Katie beat Pervak 6-4 6-4 last November. I think she is the only GB player to have beaten Pervak. Apart from Katie Pervak has only played GB players at the Junior level beating Cavaday, Elliott and Curtis (twice). In the 3 months before Katie beat her Pervak won a $25K and a $50K and reached the final of another $25K and $50K. It will be interesting to see if Laura can compete at this level.
Laura's beaten higher ranked players at Shrewsbury, but it is a fairly even contest. Pervak will be a lot tougher opponent than any Laura has faced in the previous rounds, but being a resident of Moscow, she's probably going to be even less comfortable in the heat than Laura.
