That's a set of horrible results from qualifying - what happened to them?
Not the best draws as well with Slabba and Evans getting each other, but I suppose one of them will get a point, and it begins the Davis Cup play-offs early
Jouan beat Calleri in Metz last year (then again Baker did the same in the DC), won two futures in Spain and has beaten Juska and twice nearly beaten our old friend Robert this year so is obviously pretty useful.
L16: Daniel Evans WR 456 v Vincent Millot (FRA) WR 439 or (Q) Gleb Sakharov (UKR) WR 1660
I'm pleased that Evo got through, though it's a pity two brits of similar abilities had to play each other at the start of the event.
Shame about Jamie, looks like he still hasn't recovered his form yet. He comes across in interviews as being very positive and down to earth. With that attitude he should hopefully find his feet again soon.
Kind of odd that only two singles matches were played today. Though I'm sure there must be a reason for it.
Shame that Slabba and Evans drew each other, but a good win for Evans anyway and he continues to have started the season quite well, and could have another good run here.
Shame that Baker lost, especially after winning the first set, and he justs needs some wins from someone to get his season going

The second seed gave a walkover in the first round. I find it quite amazing that there was no-one to take his place as a lucky loser particulary as Cox, Milton and Willis are all still in the doubles (albiet they weren't playing today).
Blimey! Only three seeds left in the singles: the French top seed, David Guez, Michael Lammer (SUI/3) & Yannick Mertens (BEL/5). A possible golden opportunity for someone...
Millot struggled today, so perhaps he isn't in the greatest of form, and if Evans could get past him, his QF opponent would either be a WC or a qualifier, so a great chance to go deep here.

Unfortunately, Dan continued the poor run of results for our boys today: he lost 6-7(6) 4-6.
