Marcus Willis WR 959 v (q14) Frederic DE Fays (BEL) WR 853 (q10) Joshua Milton WR 732 v Nikolai Nesterov (RUS) WR 1385 (q11) Daniel Cox WR 818 v Morgan Mannarino (FRA) UNR
QR1: Marcus Willis WR 959 lost to (q14) Frederic de Fays (BEL) WR 853 by 7-6(5) 6-2
After his good performances in the handful of senior tournaments he played in last year, I thought Marcus was goin to push on up the rankings quite quickly, but apart from taking Colin Fleming to two tiebreaks, he's been playing at around his current ranking so far this year, which is crazy given how few tournaments his ranking is based on.
He's still got plenty of time of course, I'm just a bit surprised that he seems to be finding it such a tough start to the year.

i think thats slightly harsh as de fays is a very good player who can beat a lot of players on his day.. completly agree though that marcus is capeable of pushing way up in the rankings this year!
There was a nice-looking Q/LL v Q/LL draw here in a quarter with the no. 8 seed and the no. 9 seed (who replaced the no. 2 seed after he withdrew), so of course the Brits drew two of the top four seeds instead:
L32: (Q) Daniel Cox WR 815 v (4) David Guez (FRA) WR 281 L32: (LL) Joshua Milton WR 729 v (3) Ruben Bemelmans (BEL) WR 261
