QR2: (q5) Dan Cox WR 815 v Laurynas Grigelis (LTU) WR 1548 or Tin Horvatinovic (CRO) UNR
I knew they bred them tall in Croatia, but this is ridiculous! It appears that Tin may put even Big Ivo into the shade - according to ITF, he has only just turned 18 and is already 4.00 m tall! The Lithuanian is 17.
QR2: (q5) Dan Cox WR 815 lost to Laurynas Grigelis (LTU) WR 1548 by 1 & 3
L32: (6) Chris Eaton WR 390 v Janez Semrajc (SLO) WR 482
Nice-looking draw for Chris if he can get past Semrajc - the winner plays a WC with 1 ranking point or an unranked WC and Nielsen, whose huge Brit-bashing streak Chris ended recently, is the other seed in his quarter.

Horror show for Dan in qualifying, who really hasn't got going this year at all.
But better news for Chris, who won 6-2, 6-4 today and faces Draganja (the unranked WC) in round 2.
And even better, Neilsen crashed out to Miroslav Mecir in straight sets, the 4th seed Sorenson lost, while the 8th seed was replaced by a lucky loser, so Chris is the only seeded player left in the bottom half!!!
Wow, when Chris gets lucky with his draws, he doesn't do it by halves, does he. Hopefully he can take advantage and build up some confidence, though it still won't be easy - Vik and Mecir, who beat seeds today, are both fairly decent.
He's cleared the first hurdle convincingly enough anyway - I think his first match could have been a bit of a banana skin too, so he did well to come through it. The super-fast 'glass' courts in Croatia (assuming that's what they're playing on) ought to suit him down to the ground, so I'm not surprised he made the decision to come here.

QF: (6) Chris Eaton WR 390 plays Antonio Sancic (CRO) WR 480
Sancic won his R1 match against his fellow Croat, Ivan Cerovic, by 6-2 & a retirement & struggled a bit against Mecir (WR 571) in the second (0-6 6-4 6-3), so Chris must be in with a chance of making his first Futures SF since God knows when!

God knows when = Ramat Hasharon, November 2007, when he lost to Niels Desein. It's the only Futures semi he's ever been in. His record in Futures QFs is won 1 lost 10, so it could do with a bit of a boost!

Well, it ain't gonna get one this time: he lost 7-6(5) 6-7(2) 3-6! Surely he's not going to be the one to occupy the second singles berth in the DC team...
