BT.net ended the day where they started it, in 1st place, followed by two of the predominantly American teams, TAT, up 4 to 2nd, and the Ducklings, up 5 to 3rd - the latter leads R2 at the moment.
Both the Murray teams moved up, JM.org, up 4 to 6th, overtaking AM.com, up 2 to 7th, and the Feddies moved off the bottom, up 3 to 10th.
Rusedski.co.uk and T4Y both fell 4 places to 8th and 11th respectively. However, by far the biggest fallers of the day were the Dammitaires, falling 10 all the way from 3rd down to last place, despite the GEMs generally having a good day!
INDIVIDUALS
Star of the day was Grundon (BT), up 3 to 1st, who not only took the lead but managed to open up a gap of 3 points when Schüttler won the last match of the day to give him 14/16 correct. For comparison, only 1/1000th of the 15000+ ATP Bracket Challenge entrants have got more picks correct than him so far.
Claire Bear (AM), up 44 to 6th, also got 14/16, and half a dozen entrants who scored 13/16 also moved into the top 10 - mmmm8 (TA), Fitz (JM), Jason (TN) & Ollie361 (IN), all moving up 12 to 2=, and Big Al (CC) & sirfredperry (CC), both moving up 16 to 10=.
Dropping down but still in the top 10 were the day 2 leader trisco (CC), down 6 to 7th after getting 11/16 correct, plus memphis lady (AM) & wolf (BT), both down 4 to 8= - the latter would have shared the lead had Nieminen won the last match.
The highest placed entrant from the top 10 of the rankings is Dentist Appointment (IN) WR 5, up 94 to 70=, while the highest placed debutants are djuky (VB) & jaydon (GR), both up 11 to 39=.
ON THE RISE
Apart from the two already mentioned, 9 more entrants plus Roberta the rankings bot shared day 3's top score with 14/16 correct. The next of them, Bruce (GR), up 70 on day 3, has now moved up 231 places from 14th from bottom to 12th from top since the end of day 1!
The rest of those with 14/16 all moved up over 100 places - Lizzim (AM), up 111 to 20th, MJD (BT) & Lana105 (IN), both up 130 to 34=, EKGuy39 (AM), up 149 to 50th, bblola08 (RF), up 149 to 73rd, fastest riser of the day nelslus (TA), up 152 to 89th, minnie me (JM), up 127 to 121st (an incredible recovery from last place just over a day earlier!) and seb (IN), up 103 to 151st.
DODGY DROPPERS
6/16 was the lowest score of the day, and the two biggest fallers were GiulioAxe (RG), down 215 from 26th to 241st and WindassWonderland (IN), down 171 to 253rd.
Other entrants falling more than 150 places despite scoring 8/16 were Matthew (GR), down 163 to 189th, plus kickserve (TY), Puschkin (RG) & Jaydu (AM), all down 157 to 207=.
The poor old gorillas have lost all the people in their cage except last-placed Zebra Malanija (RF) - will SallyDaisy (JM) now head down to console them as she often does, despite being in the top 10 at times during day 3!
QUOTES OF THE DAY
ASE (AM) was on good form again with "So when did Miami become Cincinnati-on-sea?" (re. the number of upsets) and "There is so much choke in this match that they will have flooded their engines." re. the PHM-Baggy match.
Btw, Cyprus has a number of national dishes (it's educational this pick 'em lark, isn't it!), making Baggy a "Souvla, Halloumi And Fasolada Together Eating Malingerer", or SHAFT'EM for short. There are warnings where you least expect them, aren't there, just like this one courtesy of one of the AO sponsors:
cazza99 (AM) summed up what BOTB is all about: "At the start of this tournament I never realised I would be cheering Hernandez to win a second round match!"
SallyDaisy (JM) said all that needed to be said about how barking mad this comp has been so far: "Wow - Fitz [her fellow multiple 'lanterne rouge' winner] is in 5th place and I'm in 10th........"
Meanwhile, David (AM)'s "Down I go!" was met with sound (AM)'s somewhat indignant "At least you can go down!"
Wolf (BT), when Nieminen-Schüttler was suspended: "Steam is literally coming out of my ears." The match later resumed, but Nieminen muppeted it away to stop him ending up 1= in any case.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
This is so frustrating! I played my 1st pick 'em last year and did well and now my true colours are shining through. Niemenen?? Almagro?? Bolelli?? What's the chances that Melzer and Querrey contrive to lose from a winning position today as they are my only low % picks?
I am surprised Mr Berdych didn't go the same way, he was broken halfway through the 3rd set but broke back twice to win. I have a Czech fiancee and am duty bound to support them but it's definately a perilous road - they are the least confident country i know (blame the Russians) and this cascades through everything including sport, they are beaten down under pressure, so whether they are winning 2-1 against Togo going into injury time or trying to choose which bread to buy in the shop, expect capitulation.
Saying that, i'm a Man City fan so i have to expect it!
