Nice one, Ross & Jordan! Minimum of 90 points/$12,650 in the bag. Damm & Lindstedt in the QF...
Only in the round of 16 I'm afraid SC,
Huh? How do you work that one out? According to my draw sheet, the champions win 1,000 points + $225,000 between them, the beaten finalists 600/$117,000, the beaten semi-finalists 360/$54,000, the beaten quarter-finalists 180/$23,000, the losers in the second round 90/$12,650 & the first-round losers nowt/$4,000. Ross & Jordan reached the second round by beating Melo & Sá, so surely it is the latter who leave with 0 points & $4,000 & Ross & Jordan who walk away with 90 points & pocket $12,650 if they fail to reach the quarter-final by not overcoming Damm & Lindstedt? Either way, at 5-3 & serving, they're well on the way to securing that all-important first set!
I'm confused. You say it is a QF match but you also say that they are playing for a place in the QF. What you're saying doesn't make much sense to me.
They have reached the second round (last 16) and are playing for a place in the QF. In your original post you said they were playing Damm & Lindstedt in the QF, not the second round.

I don't suppose it does. My original mistake on Sunday was to refer to this evening's second-round match as a quarter-final. Sorry!
* The $10,350 (& far more important) question was whether they were going to retrieve the break against them to get the second set back on track & they have: *2-3!
Better late than never. Splendid win for Ross & Jordan, perhaps these two should stick together. Another match in the QFs to test their mettle, but you never know.

So, seeds are an endangered species in yet another Masters event: after the exit earlier this evening of Dlouhy & Paes (4) at the hands of the Czech/Slovak pair of Cermak & Mertinak, the only ones left standing in Miami are the top seeds, the Bryans, & the sixth seeds, Bruno Soares & one of Jamie M's erstwhile temporary partners, Kevin Ullyett - & they face one another in the QFs...! What a chance for Ross & Jordan, though Mirnyi & Ram must be a real danger in their half of the draw.
Stroll in the park: 3 & 3! Now it's the quarter-final, versus the conquerors of Nestor & Zimonjic (2), Knowle & Melzer! That ain't gonna be easy...
Not quite.... Almagro and Ferrer beat Nestor and Zimonjic, before losing to Knowle and Melzer in round 2.
Another good win for Ross today and back to back QF's at this level is a good indication that his ranking is on the up - and the fact this one wasn't done with Andy as his partner is perhaps a better result as he doesn't need to rely on a singles player to get good results.
Knowle and Melzer are beatable as although they can be a good team, they are very prone to choking and haven't had a good year so far - not a bad draw for a QF though.
(and well done to Fisher and Huss on getting to the QF's as well - helps Huss and Hutchins ranking if Huss is winning matches as well, plus it's good to see the honourary Brit winning matches)

Oops, so 'twas! Not my day yesterday! *Note to self: you really must remember to wear the right glasses when you look at your draw sheets in future...*
Back to the tennis business: Hutch & Kerr will play Knowle & Melzer in the first match on the Grandstand court at 18.30 BST today. Wonder if channelsurfing will cover it? Hope so - - & that it's finished (with the right result, natch!) before the England-Ukraine kicks off...
Busy night, tonight. Damn good job the younger Murray isn't playing. I'd be in two minds what to watch had there been a clash between the footie and the tennis. Really hoping for a good result from H&K. Is Ross returning to partner Huss in the future, anyone know?
