QF: (Q) Heather Watson WR 416 v Claire de Gubernatis (FRA) WR 321

De Gubernatis was comprehensively beaten by both Laura Robson and Naomi Broady last year, so this is a big chance to reach the semis.


Meanwhile, Robbo's conqueror Jamie Hampton thrashed Puchkova (who beat the top seed in R1) 2 & 1 today! The winner of her match with (6) Irigoyen will play the winner of Heather's match in the semis.

Yes, Maza I'm guessing that's more likely, and maybe also just got a bit frustrated which may explain the second set score.

Still, Laura maybe a couple of places closer to being a top 100 ranked doubles player  smile

Surely she can't have lost to de Gubernatis?! But yes, that is the conclusion I'd tend to jump to based on her silence too.

Heather is on the OOP for the Family Circle Cup qualifying later today. Well thats a surprise.

As a wild card. So thats why she withdrew from Osprey.

Must have been difficult to have concentrated on todays match when at the back of your mind you knew you maybe playing main tour qualies the next day.
