RE: Girls: Wimbledon Juniors 2010

I don't know, but probably justified. She's now 4-0 up, having won 16/18 points in the second set.

There is a table of Professional vs Junior rankings - you can be seeded on your professional ranking. If it was done on today's ranking rather than at the time of entry, she'd be higher still.

Natalie lost 6-3 6-1.

Was the Laura going soft on her opponent?

Anyhows, she won 6-0 6-1 in the end. smile

Tricky draw for Laura.
First round not a 100% cakewalk and the second round against an emerging talent from the US Hardebeck who reached QF at Roehampton before losing to eventual winner. Won Easter Bowl in US and also reached QF at $50k in Carson losing to eventual winner.

Not too tricky!

Krista Hardebeck next who also had an easy 6-3 6-0 win this morning.

Easier than I thought it would be, but the second round without doubt will be much tougher.
I also said earlier that if Laura really wants this and plays well there is only one winner of this title.

Tara has lost the 1st set on the tie-breaker.  NUmerous breaks of serve and she led the breaker 5-1.

Plenty of winners but twice as many unforced errors - a massive 37 in that 1st set.

Taken 2nd set 6-1.

Hitting loads more winners than her opponent, but also lots more unforced errors.

If she can keep the ratio in the positive in the third set she'll win. Fingers crossed.

Tara dropped serve at the start of the third but has hit back strongly to take the match and provide us with our 4th representative in round 2

6-7(5) 6-1 6-2

... which is what she has done!

Wins 6-7 6-1 6-2

57 winners
64 unforced errors.

After a wayward first set, she got more and more consistent.

Well done Tara.

According to the LTA it is the first time since 2002 that there have been 4 girls in round 2

R2

(WC) Francesca Stephenson v (5) Monica Puig (PUR)
Ksenia Kirillova (RUS) v (WC) Eleanor Dean
(8) Laura Robson v (Q) Krista Hardebeck (USA)
(WC) Tara Moore v Eugenie Bouchard (CAN)

A big test for Fran against the powerful Copa Gerdau champion
