Lisa had 3 bps but wasn't able to convert *4-5

Darn, that may have been sooo important.

Lisa loses 6-3 7-5 apart from a poor run of games at the end of the first set and at the start of the second seems like a decent effort from Lisa.

don't feel a win was outside of lisa's capabilities there, missed a lot of gp's and crucially in the 2nd set, those 2bp's.

Ah pity  cry

Looks a pretty competitive performance against a decent consistent player ranked much nearer the other end of the 200s.

At least she wasn't injured. This week, that's got to count as a good result.

Lisa tweeted:

"Played like such a numpty today, soooo Many opportunities just could never get in front, not bad playing a solid 4 out of 10 though"

I assume she means that if she can play like a numpty with a 4/10 performance by her standards and still get close to Luzhanska, that has to be quite encouraging.

Another 8 points in Rancho Mirage next week would leave that career high looking quite vulnerable. smile.gif

P.S. Notice how I've resisted (*) any temptation to link playing like Numpty (David Nalbandian's BOTB nickname) with those intriguing-sounding 'cookie sandwiches' she tweeted about earlier in the week.

(*) errr - almost wink

Marc, any more news on Georgie Gent? Starting to worry she may never return to tennis.

That's a good question and one I've been intending to follow up for a week or two as I would have expected Georgie to be back in action by now. Unfortunately, we've had our hands full with other sports but I'm hoping to get some answers soon. It is a worry, I agree.

Marc, just read your article about Laura Oates. Seems there's something amiss in Cambridgeshire - all these long term injuries.

Did you manage to catch up with Georgie?

Hi SMC,

sorry I didn't reply earlier I've just seen your post.

These long term injuries are a bit of a worry aren't they? Having said that, I don't think it's anything related to Cambridgeshire. Georgie spends most of her time at the NTC and Lisa and Laura train predominantly in Wrexham. There is actually a guy based in Cambridge who spent nearly 18 months working with Bally specifially on injury prevention. She used to come up here about once or twice a month and he developed a full programme for her.

Obviously it seemed to work because during that period Bally had one of her most successful spells on the tour. They stopped working together just under a year ago.

I did finally catch up with Georgie last week. I've not written the article yet but I should hopefully have it available in the next few days. Bottom line is she's still recovering from injury. It's not great news in the short term but on the whole it's a very positive outlook.

As long as she's still planning on returning to play then it's good news.
