A little bit of a struggle but has got the W. 5/13 bps won bit of a worry especially as Brianti served up 10 DF's but Bally's serving stats solid enough with 64% 1st serve and 73% points won behind it.

A strange match from the snatches I followed. Bally had oodles of breakpoints early on, but only converted a fraction, then suddenly lost 6 games in a row from 2-2 in the second set, before steaming home. Will play the second seed Klara Zakopalova next, who she beat last time out - though that was 11 years ago, so hardly relevant.

Hardly relevant, I agree, but a good memory for Elena - she beat her at a 50K in Cardiff when she (Elena) was 17 and ranked 727 and the Czech (the Klara Koukalova) was 18 and ranked 196, so it was a HUGE upset, one of her big early wins.
