Naomi got a dodgy call at 4-1* 30-15 (and then imploded a little bit) which would have given her 2 bps for a double break and I doubt she'd have lost from *5-1
Well, being wiped out 6 - 0 6 - 1 by Sirotkina was certainly the most seemingly significant result at the time in a rather dodgy looking couple of weeks.
But yes, given Sirotkina's ongoing results including today beating Groenefeld 6 - 0 6 - 2, make it retrospectively most certainly not quite so bad.
Anyway, as Phil said, with Mel's first round win against Barthel, hopefully today was just mainly a good competitive match for positive form reasons from them both.
Be interesting to watch Mel and Naomi's progress in the coming weeks and see if they can push on.

What a crazy match this is - 12 breaks in 17 games is odd even by WTA standards. Kostova took the 2nd 6-2 and is now the marginal favourite to win with the bookies.
