Klaasen and Pospisil were the 2 seeds in Jamie's quarter. Presume MS is saying that Jamie is now the highest ranked player in that quarter, so if rankings are now followed, he is in line to make the semis.
In actual fact Kutrovsky WR 562 must be the next highest ranked player left in that quarter.

Gooch also got knocked out. In fact there are no seeds left in the top half of the draw! It would be great to see a all Brit semi. Although as SC pointed out.....it's early days.

L32: (LL) Matthew Short WR 929 lost to (6) Nicholas Monroe (USA) WR 306 by 2 & 5
L16: Alex Bogdanovic WR 400 v Artem Sitak (now NZL) WR 391 (CH 299 in 2008)
L16: Jamie Baker WR 401 v Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO) WR 705 (CH 506 a year ago)
Sitak and the two Brits are the only top 500 players left in the top half of the draw. Sitak lost to Bloomers in 3 sets in Newport qualifying last year while Basiliashvili is only 19 so you wouldn't expect his ranked to have dropped 200 places in the last year - in fact, he hasn't beaten a top 1000 player since October!

good results, esp for Jamie considering he's had so much travel. hopefully both can build on it and progress, you'd think both would be fav to make it through today as well.
I see Strobe is in Boggo's half, wouldn't mind a chance for Boggo to past him later this week (although it would mean JB had gone out) just to get a bit revenge for the USOQ last year, the way the crowd cheered it on as Boggo retired.

Good. There has to be an upside from dropping to Futures. Get into the winning habit, Alex, then get back to the level you should be playing at and do it there as well.
Close one!! I always think of them as real confidence boosting wins when you can sneak the 2nd on a breaker from a set down and go on to win it. He save any mp's count?
Interestingly, the only seeds left in the singles are in the bottom half of the draw: Greg Ouellette (USA/4) & Arnau Brugues (ESP/8)! Bit shocked by Jamie's result...!
