So Laura leapfrogs Emily in the race for next Monday's GB no 5 spot again - more importantly, one more win for either of them would get them into the top 250.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
That's 4 girls ( Bally, Laura, Emily and Naomi ) still in QFs or better around the globe in 25Ks and above, apart from Jade and Lucy in the Edinburgh 10K QF.
Some decent results already achieved this week. Getting to tougher stages, but hopefully can pull out one or two more results.
Bit concerned with the bandage on Laura's thigh. Still some concern there according to the commentator. But she is playing GREAT
I got the impression he thought it was just a precaution, because that's where the problem had been, rather than a particular concern.
He also said she had 'felt it' last week. Which I assumed meant during her last tournament, so yes, was being 'careful' now. I also, maybe wrongly, assume that is why she is not in doubles also.
By hey, it was just great to see her play again, and as others have said the commentator was great. (We'll overlook the 'won wimbledon juniors last year' and lost in 3 sets to JJ )
The commentator I believe said that Laura tweaked the bad injury she sustained at the HC last week and was wearing the strapping as a precaution. With the French open and Wimby they didn't want to take any risks. The commentator a Frenchman has coached alot of the top American juniors and is currently the tennis pro at this tennis club. His commentary this week has been very technical using words a coach might use. Transitioning, neutral position, offence and defense positions have been his favourites.
Anyway back to the match, the things that stood out to me were the problems that Laura was having with her ball toss, but as she was striking the serve exceptionally well it didn't matter much. Her movement when called upon which wasn't very often was very good. She made a few too many UE's for my liking but as she was so much better than her opponent it didn't matter. Her opponent wasn't very good and it will be much much tougher tomorrow, her QF opponent looked quite useful from what I could glean from her performance earlier. Overall though quite encouraging.
When Laura did make errors they were generally on the return or when stepping in to try and finish the point. From the back of the court she was very solid and generally took control of the few points that lasted more than 4 or 5 shots.
Not quite sure what to make of the next match. On any other surface, Laura would be clear favourite, but Alvarez-Teran beat Wienerova in R1 and she also beat Mlady 4 & 2 in March. Bet365 have Laura as 4/6 favourite.

I think this was the most pleasing aspect, that the longer the rallies went the stronger she looked. Much faster footwork than this time last year meant she was able to rally well, even when pushed out wide.
Should be an interesting match. I would expect Laura to be given much more of a challenge in the longer points today and I'm certainly not expecting an easy win.
