Not sure what to say about Laura's result (may explain next weeks withdrawal) but apart from that and Naomi's result a very good day for the Brits.

The Foxhills twitter feed didn't post the result until about 5.40 and it started before 2.30, so with the withdrawal from next week as well, I thought a difficult match was a strong possibility.
The courts appear to be very slow, but still that performance is seriously under par. The only positive was that she was able to scrap a victory out, but I wonder how much that was due to Jade bottling it slightly. Laura has been quiet on twitter the last few days, it would be interesting to know the full story, has Laura got more injury niggles or is she struggling with the expectation level.
Given Fran's impressive result today and her liking for a slow surface there must be a major chance of an upset tomorrow.

Laura's result definitely the most surprising of the day, even though she won. Would have definitely been interesting to have been able to follow the live scores on that match, to see how close Jade came to winning.

The fact that Laura was able to battle through to win, and win another tie-break, is a positive, especially in a $25k event where she could be more prone to mentally giving up if it wasn't going well. Hopefully she has got her bad performance out of the way, but tomorrows result will be very interesting now.
