Wow !

My computer shared my gloom when it went 5 - 2 against Laura and shut doiwn, and I only got back when I saw with much relief that Laura had apparently just managed to get it into a TB. But then I read such comings and goings ! Well, I hope she's as successful in the FQR as in the tiebreak. By the way, I think I'm pretty much in the minority for liking final set tiebreaks. US Open uniquely for slams has them in the main draw too.

Anyway, great win for Naomi smile And err Laura got through, phew, but she was a bit lucky there and I hace "some" sympathy for the younster. Those return stats from Laura were pretty bad, given there is no sign that Townsend was impersonating Ivo Karlovic on serve, so presumanbly was just better much of the time, and Laura's serve didn't seem in its best form either, so a worry.

I think Laura has had trouble with younger players than herself in the past, though that should be no excuse, but hey at least she's through.
