Oh dear.  Particularly hope nothing serious re Mel's retirement since I presume she is down under for quite a number of weeks and is intent on defending / winning a large number of ranking points.

Well done Samantha on her doubles triumph.

Well that sums up life nicely. I wish I was better than I am, at lots of things ... 

I'm afraid I just can't get at all interested about players travelling 12,000 miles at god knows what expense to try to pick up cheap points in relatively weak tournaments. 

Yes, of course they can do what they like, but to me it somehow doesn't feel right. I even find myself being pleased when they lose - a sort of "serves you right" kind of feeling.

Sorry, not really being suitably patriotic, am I ...
