Take it from me, Laura is probably already in, alot of players who have no intention of playing have not officially withdrawn for example our very own Bally. Serena also has not withdrawn. Even if she is close to the bubble, alot of those players who are also close to that bubble won't even bother making the trip so making it highly likely that she'll make the cut.
If she is unbelievably unlucky and doesn't make the cut at least she can practice with alot of the elite players so not a wasted trip at all.

I see, I'm such a newbiew at what really happens away from what's easily attainable on the main websites.
Is there a compilation of the not so sbvious sources of information?
It's on the WTA website somewhere, but I found it by looking at last years drawsheet and changing the web address to bring up the 2011 draw instead of the 2010 draw.

LOL that was my trick too. Helen would probably be shocked to learn quite how sneaky we draws/results hunters can be (you get to know when, where and how best to look for these things after a while)

Right egg on my face etc., etc., so Laura didn't get in with her ranking and needed a WC which is her seventh of the year which is 1 above the max. Hopefully there is a loophole here and she won't be punished for accepting another WC. This will mean that this tournament will now count towards her 'effectively' 18 for the year ( 16 + 2 merited increases USOQ plus AOQ next year ) allowing 3 more to be played up until 21/1/12 not including the AO.

Page 59 states "the maximum number of Wild Cards any player may receive into singles WTA Tournaments and Grand Slams during a Tour Year is six (6), with a maximum of three (3) allowed in the Main Draw.
It is the players responsibility to track the number of Wild Cards she has used. Players will forfeit any ranking points earned at WTA Tournaments and Grand Slams by the acceptance of Wild Cards above this limit. Wild Cards accepted into ITF Womens Circuit events count separately "
I suspect Laura is ok because she has had WCs for a mix of slam, WTA and ITF events
