More info on Adbala, anyone?
Edit: In fact, after some crude research of my own, I can see that Adbala's hard court results of late have been nothing to sing home about. She lost to a '95 in Greece recently as well. I'm quietly/overtly confident here. Second round looks pretty tasty as well. So much so that I might actually go and make myself a sandwich.

Sandra Roma rings a bell. I'm sure she was a decent player a few years ago.
She had a junior career high if 11 in 2008, reached the semis of the girls' doubles at Wimbledon in 2007 and the Final of girls' doubles at the USO the following year.
Or you may remember her losing to Amanda Carreras in the Finals of both singles and doubles at a 10K in Turkey in 2009.
Roma was out virtually the whole of last year with a back injury, reached 10K semis in March and May this year but was then out again until last week, when she qualified for another 10K in Turkey before going out in R2 to player ranked outside the top 600.

Abdala is at a career high She is 23 years old, played since 2004 but only occasionaly until December last year. If fact she seems not to have played at all in 2007. I suspect she has been studying somewhere and decided to go full time last year. She has played a lot of $10Ks this year reaching 2QFs, 3SFs and one F.
I think that's partly because she's moved to the Netherlands to work with Bok and partly the strategy of working on clay, although there may also be some spotlight avoidance. She's staying in Stokholm for another 10k next week, which is eminently sensible considering the relative strength of the Sunderland field. After that, I hope we will see her in the final 3 big junior events putting that clay practice to good use.
