Great scoreline from Anne who apparently now plays Vögele, who is on a 5-match losing streak against Brits stretching back to 2009.
I must admit to being a bit disappointed that neither Tara nor Naomi were able to take full advantage of their heroics yesterday to pile on the points by beating players who appeared to be not quite as strong as those they upset in R1. There was always a chance that the Russian might be a 'Bych too far' for Naomi (who would probably have finally made it into the top 200 had she won) but Tara had beaten Koehler in straight sets in Shrewsbury, so I was very hopeful that she would do it again.
That said, they both did a lot better than expected this week by winning their R1 matches, so there is plenty to build on.
Thanks Ali for all the tweets today - very entertaining as well as informative!

Doublesons lost the doubles 11-9 in the MTB after saving 3MPs.
The bairns may have lost (at least, I think that's the gist of Phil's post! For the record, they lost by 4-6 6-2 [9-11]. So near & yet so far! ), but at least Annie & partner soldier on:
QF: Kiki Bertens & Malou Ejdesgaard (NED/DEN) WR 622 lost to (2) Eva Birnerova & Anne Keothavong WR 231 by 6-3 6-7(5) [6-10]
Just for the record:
R1: Anna Fitzpatrick & Tara Moore WR 854 lost to Ekaterina Bychkova & Jill Craybas (RUS/USA) WR 422 by 0 & 5
R1: Mandy Elliott & Jo Konta gave Elitsa Kostova & Barbara Sobaszkiewicz a walkover
Marosi and her partner won Shrewsbury and a 50k just before that so were a very tough assignment.
Laura gave a nice interview on Sky and even more surprisingly the guy asking the questions even knew a little about tennis. Main points to come out of thst interview were: 1. Going to take 2 weeks off after this tourny then put in a very punishing training block. 2. The key to victory today was becoming more aggressive in the third set with a bit of margin for error. 3. Was asked how far she felt she could go in the game, and answered that she would put no pressure/ expectation on shoulders with specific targets, but that she would basically work her butt off to become the best tennis player she is capable of and see where that takes her. 4. Was asked about grunting and basically sidestepped that question nicely saying that it was just part of tennis, but she can understand why the watching public would prefer it not be so loud.
Heather was interviewed also, but I only heard ashortened version.
She basically felt her movement wasn't up to scratch today, it improved as the match wore on but still not as good as it needed to be.
To me the most obvious difference between the two players was the serve. Laura's serving was above par, has apparently been working on it and Hev's was below par. Small margins but enough to get Laura over the winning line.
I believe Laura will have to play at least as well tomorrow to get the win, but it will be a good test for her, something she has struggled with keeping up a consistent performance throughout the week.
Anne will most likely win tomorrow but will have a very tough matchup in the semis against either Barthel/Krajicek.
Laura up first again today at 11am, followed by Anne on the same court.
Would not be surprised if Laura put in a slightly flat performance today after playing an intense singles match and a close doubles match yesterday. Hopefully she can summon up some energy though because the bottom half of the draw has opened up a bit and she is probably the best player left in it.
Anne is in a much tougher section of the draw but is playing really well and she must have a good chance of progressing today and she won so easily yesterday that I almost missed her result it was over so quickly.
