I was hoping she'd turn a bit badass after she'd scraped through that 1st set, and so it proved
Now with a 9-match iwnning streak in ITF, she will play Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN) WR 144 (CH 4 in 1995) in the Final. They have played once before, Date winning 5-7 6-4 7-6(4) in Monzon in 2009.
Whatever happens in the Final (and whether the year ends as deemed by the WTA or on 31 Dec), Elena will have more points at the end of 2011 than she did at the end of 2010. In fact, it hasn't seemed like quite as good a year, but reaching R2 in all four slams has made the difference.

I'm not certain (but pretty sure) that Bally will now be back in the top 50 (for at least a week) and may equal Anne's career high of 48 if she wins tomorrow. Elena's current CH is 49.
She will definitely be the first British woman to finish two consecutive years ranked in the 50s or better since Jo Durie in the 1980s. (the best in consecutive years since then was WR 60 two years in a row by Durie in 1991/2)

It would be fantastic if Bally could win this in the same week as Anne winning Barnstaple. Date-Krumm will obviously be a major step up in class from her last two opponents, but Bally has won 100k finals before so I'm sure she will be confident.
Why did they update the french tournament site????? It was plain and simple but I could find everything before!
15.00 GMT (how depressing to be using that particular set of initials again! ).
I couldn't agree more, Shhh. I thought I'd somehow clicked on the wrong link the last time I tried to use it, even though it was in my list of favourites! It's a complete dog's breakfast now!
