Yes, agonising to follow at times, but what a match to come through
Naomi now has 309 points (289 + 24 - old 16th best of 4) - this week's WR 200 has 307, so it'll be touch and go whether this win gets her there at last. In the QFs, she'll play world no. 199 Kiki Bertens, who was only defending Q+R1 points so is still ahead of her, but a win would make absolutely certain for Naomi, and beating someone just inside the top 200 would be a nice way to do it.

Just realised that Naomi's win means there will be no less than 8 GB women playing quarter-finals tomorrow! I don't keep records on stuff like that, but it must be close to a record!

Looking at the scorecard I see Naomi and Sarah served 31 aces between them (17-14 to Naomi) illustrating Anne's comment about how lightning quick the courts are.
Anne won her doubles quarter-final (with Kiki) 6-1 6-4
Tomorrow Naomi plays second (nb 1.30pm GMT) and Anne 4th (nb 5pm) against the winner of the maatch currently on court (Malek a set up)
