Anna: "played pretty bad today, got sucked in to playing her game which was never gonna work! also wasted a lot of game points and break points :("
A tweet from Mel makes it clear that she lost to Sacha Jones too but unfortunately oztennisresults seem to have given up on tweeting results from Bendigo after the first two matches, concentrating on the 14U Aussie team championships instead - where, funnily enough, (Sara) Tomic beat (Anya) Dokic today - I've no idea whether either is related, though I assume none of Jelena's siblings have Aussie nationality.

Went to the form book, however both Mel and Anna will be disappointed with their respective scorelines whereas Sam will think she has has an outside shot at an upset in the quarters given how well she appears to be playing at the moment.
Very tough for Laura puts her Aussie Open appearance in a little doubt, but as they have caught it early hopefully she can recover and be near 100% for a tournament she was absolutely gutted to miss last year.
Still this was an important offseason for her and to miss out on a full preseason will probably impact on her level of performance next year. But for now just important not to rush back too quickly, easy to do given that she won't want to miss Melbourne. Stress fractures can be tricky if you don't proceed with caution.
No scores yet, but according to Aussies on TF, Samantha lost both of her matches today.
After a slow start down under though, it's been a good last 5 weeks for Sam - 44 singles points (which will make up 40% of her counters on Monday week) and lots of doubles points as well.
She will be ranked in the top 400 for singles on Monday week for the first time, having been unranked at the start of 2011 - though she had been ranked before taking some time out of the tour to go to college.

She has done really well I think, at decent events as well, not just a bunch of 10k's. Hope she can build on this next year.
Overall, with as Steven said a slow start, Samantha will have scored 56 ranking points from 9 events down under. Of the Brits, second in points just to Mel's 62 from 9. However, that's a big drop for Mel from her pretty successful trip last year when she earned 139 points from 10 events.
Mel 62 / 9, Sam 56 / 9, Emily 49 / 8, Lisa 26 / 6, Anna 22 / 2
