Sorry, I'm being really thick here, but can someone explain how the Portugal/Netherlands match affects the current standings please? I can't seem to fathom it out.
If we beat Israel clearly we're through.
But if we lose and Portugal lose, then GB and Israel have won 2 ties, and Portugal and the Netherlands have won one tie.
When two teams are equal it goes on head to head so Israel would win the group.
So if we lose to Israel, we need Portugal to win so that 3 teams are equal on 2 ties won.
Then it would be based on rubbers won. With Anne's win, we have now won 6 rubbers, which Isreal and Portugal cannot now match.
So the Portugal match could matter.
Let's just win though
Steven has set out all the options systematically on page 20 if I'm still confusing things.

Actually I think it is good for Heather and Laura to get another match in together. Only playing one doubles match per day, tiredness isn't going to be an issue for them.
Edit my post to delete the incorrect score. Having followed the competition very closely for two days I was in meetings all afternoon and lost track of the score apart from that we had qualified.

Regarding team selection it was a close call but if Heather or Laura were drafted in for the singles and got involved in a long match, it would make doubles selection more difficult so I'm happy to see the selections remain the same.
No change to the lineup, for me just about the right call, Anne is still favourite to beat Glushko, and dropping her IMO would send the wrong message.
What wrong message

You would basically be saying to Anne, you've been dropped when she hasn't played that badly. Judy now is telling Anne that we believe in you, and we confidently expect you to get the win aginst Glushko.

We don't know how good or bad Anne has actually played, although on the face of it looks as if she isn't at her best. So a few of us, I think including yourself, have just wondered a bit. And some were thinking about Heather.
I've no problems if Judy just thinks that's the best call for getting the win in this tie.
But I would expect any of the team in Isreal to be interested mainly in one thing, WINNING, and all they would want is that the team is selected for that.
I'm not into keeping a player in just to show belief in them. Keep them in if it's thought to be the right choice for WINNING.
