There are buses that go from Landvetter to Boras.

If you fly Ryanair into City, you need to take a short bus into Gothenburg, and then either a train or a #100 express bus out. Bus is faster and there are more options.

This link posted by RBBOT is excellent with details on which bus to get and links to timetables.

Has anyone in the London area looked into going? I have looked at BA from Heathrow and its not that expensive but maybe there are other options. Would anyone also happen to know of any public transport links between the main airport (landvetter i believe) and Boras? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is a bus direct from Landvetter to Boras which takes about 50 mins.

I'm taking the missus as a pre-wedding getaway. We're up to our neck in table plans and wedding lists and what type of cutlery to chose type nonsense, so will be nice to get out of Glasgow for a change of scenery away from all the planning, and hopefully enjoy some good tennis with a British win at the end of it!

Flying into Gothenburg (very!) early on the Friday, and just going to spend the day wandering around Boras. They have an excellent zoo, but it's shut that day which is a shame. So might just have to find a nice pub and let the missus wander round the shops for the afternoon.

Got a reasonable price for a place on booking.com. I had wondered if the LTA might try to arrange a deal for British Tennis members (not that I am one) to try to get a decent travelling support, but doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyway, felt it was too good a chance to miss out on. If we lose, it could be a while before we get to this stage again - definiately not prepared to wait another 19 years!

I'm still not 100% sure I'm going, you can book the hotels in advance and still cancel without being out of pocket so that is not an issue, but obviously the flights are non refundable and have already gone up in price a bit to £80ish return. If I do go, I'm going to get there early, probably Tuesdayish onwards.

Do you know about buying tickets for the tennis itself ? or do you think it will be just be a matter of turning up on the day and there being no problem ?

I think they'll sell tickets in advance as per Davis Cup. Probably won't sell out though.

Maybe we'll hear something in the next fortnight or so.

Seems like they are having a bit of a problem at the moment. The details from the registration form online don't seem to be going through to the call centre, and as tickets have only just been released they are not quite certain on the arrangements for payment. I very nearly got away with paying £30 for a pair of tickets rather than 1 but was too honest!

Anyway, I'm waiting on the girl phoning me back. Can't wait!

EDIT - nice girl called Jess phoned me back. Other than some problems understanding my accent, we got there in the end. It seems the form you fill in goes to the events team, rather than to the payment processing team. It may be that I pressed the wrong option on the menu when I phoned and ended up in the wrong place but they seem to know what to do now if anyone else phones.

Wonder if I got tickets 1 and 2? Don't know if that's something to be proud of or not?!

The LTA are selling tickets to the Fed Cup tie, presumably for the area behind the GB bench.

See http://www.lta.org.uk/fans-major-events/Fed-Cup/Tickets/?id=&epslanguage=en

I wish I could go!

Not sure whether to register for tickets now, or wait until I am 100% certain I'm going, but if Steven's right about the tickets being reserved for a position behind the GB bench, it maybe a gamble worth taking.
Even if its not, it should mean all us GB supporters will get to sit together, rather than being on my tod with a whole load of pesky Swedes.

An early chance to strike a blow for GB against Sweden as Bally takes on Arvidsson in the Fed Cup 'Heart' Awards, which "aim to recognise players who have represented their country with distinction, shown exceptional courage on court and demonstrated outstanding commitment to their team."

It's a public vote (which is a bit dodgy since it turns it into a popularity contest) but we'd better make sure Bally wins it (I may be a bit biased, but I'm pretty sure she deserves it!) - you can vote at http://bit.ly/gk6kim

Bally lost out to Arvidsson for a Fed Cup Heart Award  -  Boo

Hantuchova won her vote  -  Hurrah

No nothing. I'm gonna wait a week and then ask what the deal is.
