Not the most encouraging start to the year for Jo   disbelief

R1: KONTA, Johanna (AUS/GBR) 309  lost to  DAVIS, Lauren(USA) 320    6 - 1   6 - 0

 

That said, I do notice though that mixed in among some more ordinary results, Davis ( turned 18 in October ) beat ( and bagelled ) two top 120 players during the second half of last year

 

Alison Riske (USA) WR 115 : 7 - 5  6 - 0   and Mirjana Lucic (CRO ) 120   6 - 0  7 - 6 (5)

 

So looks as if she can really play on occasion.
