Well done Laura. 2nd set wasn't very impressive but fought back well from 3-5. Savchuk played a shocking tiebreak, gifting Laura 4 points with horrible errors. Movement still a big issue and some weird shot selections whenever she was near the net, seemed intent on hitting the ball straight back to Savchuk or giving her the easiest shot possible.
I didn't think Laura played as well in that match as she can play, for example in the 1st set of the 1st match. Her service was particularly below par but she still had enough in reserve to get over the line.
Excellent few days from Laura. Another great first set from Laura - she is still prone to the lapse in concentration mid way through the 2nd set as happened again today, but recovered it quickly and dominated the tie-break. In fact she wasn't really troubled throughout qualifying and she is definitely playing good enough tennis to deserve to be part of the main draw.
Hopefully that will be the last we see of Laura in grand slam qualifying as she closes in on tht top 100
Great first set, dodgy second, but because she had so much in hand still won it. Interesting fact of the 6 non seeded players she could draw, she has beaten 3 of them ( Halep, Radwanska, and Martic )
Odds are that Laura will be maintaining her run of tough first round draws - options are:
Kim Clijsters BEL 12 Jelena Jankovic SRB 14 Sabine Lisicki GER 15 Flavia Pennetta ITA 20 Daniela Hantuchova RUS 21 Nadia Petrova RUS 30 Sara Errani ITA 47 Petra Martic CRO 52 Simona Halep ROU 57 Marina Erakovic NZL 61 Urszula Radwanska POL 102 Mandy Minella LUX 110
I like Daniela and would have loved to have seen her achieve more in the game. Not seen her in a while, but I assume she is still a bit flaky at times. Would be interesting. But yes, really one of the latter names on that list, please.

Oh joy, I'm first in with the meaningless cliches:
IT WILL BE INVALUABLE BIG OCCASION EXPERIENCE FOR LAURA. SHE'S GOT NOTHING TO LOSE, SO LET'S HOPE SHE CAN MIX IT WITH THE BIG GUNS AND USE THIS EXPERIENCE TO KICK ON TO THE TOP 100.
Or something like that.
