Laura has 2 more match points on Mel's serve but fails to take them.

Another chance for her to serve it out for the 3rd time, 5 - 4

Oudin saved one more match point, Laura saved two break points before finally crossing the line.

Laura totally dominated to reach match point after 47 minutes then struggled to find her first serve and took 31 more minutes to finish it off.

Laura won 71 points to Oudin's 48. Laura's fastest serve was 172 KMH and average first serve 153 KMH. Laura hit 4 aces and no DFs.

Nice interview  with Laura at the end. Honest/self aware assessment I thought.

Well a nice relaxing early morning watching Laura suddenly turned into very nervy viewing but at least she got there in the end.

I wonder if thoughts entered Laura's mind that she might suffer the embarrassmeny of losing from a set and 5-0 and serving at 40-0.

Up until that last half hour Laura was playing really well though. Anna Floris of Italy up next.

Thanks for the heart attack Laura. But a good win nevertheless. Naomi Broady should be on next on ct5

I don't think so - she seemed to be completely in control, just appeared to lose concentration a bit (as she said in her interview), Oudin noticed, relaxed a bit and found some form.

I was a bit worried Oudin was intent on 'doing a Viola' though!

Today's win will take Laura to a new career high in the 120s

QR2: (q14) Laura Robson WR 133 v Anna Floris (ITA) WR 173 (CH 129 in 2010)

As I mentioned earlier, top seed Vesna Dolonts crashed out today.

Laura 4th match on court6 tomorrow. About 3.30ish Naomi on after her if she wins today

Laura certainly didn't look at all rusty in that match. Her preparation has obviously been 'spot on'. She looked slimmer and fitter and was really moving well at times. However, 'same old' 'same old' with the concentration going and the monologues cranking up. She said at the end she was 'lucky' to get through. Well, perhaps she was, but her talent and improved fitness also helped. On reflection, perhaps if this match had been as easy as it looked it was going to be, it would not have been such good preparation for later, tougher matches.
