In the last set Naomi got 9 first serves in out of 22 and her overall percentage dropped to 48%. As her service is normally a strong point of her game something clearly wasn't working.
Good win for Laura, was fairly comfortable as expected but to get the win inside of an hour is a good effort. Her opponents didn't get started till 20 minutes ago - wouldn't it be a shame if the winner had to endure a three hour battle late at night before playing Laura.
For anyone who didn't see Laura's first round match, it is available on the Australian Open Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/australianopentv#p/l/0/XxdWTJx8VRY
A shame Naomi couldn't stay in the match after such a good start but was always a tough ask against Riske.
So it's Savchuk in the final qualifying round, after she surprisingly beat Bertens. The scheduling has to favour Laura as she was only on court an hour today and finished 5 hours before Savchuk.
Big test to come [for Laura] in FQR where I expect it to be Bertens.
Did you have any money on that, Phil? As you probably already know, she succumbed to Savchuk a short while ago after a bit of a marathon (two hours 20 minutes! ) by 4-6 7-6(8) 3-6. How do you rate Laura's chances of qualifying now?

I did have a small wager on Bertens, but still came out on top from yesterday and today.
Laura is probably the favourite but I expect a tight match and one that basically could go either way.
