Jamie announced his retirement today. Congrats to him for what has been a great career with 7 grandslam titles, umprecedented in recent British mens tennis.
All the best for whatever he chooses to do next - Im sure there are many options available to him.
Amazing number of haters on the bbc comments - so disappointin. Jamie has been one of Britains best doubles players ever, maybe the best of modern times (and it doesnt matter if hes not been the best, definitely one of the best) and deserves a lot of credit for helping promote the game.
I dont get the knocking him because hes scottish thing, personally I support all British players regardless and small minded bigots should look at themselves.
congrats Jamie and respect for what youve achieved.

I rarely bother to read comments on articles posted on the site & a brief glance at those posted on the Jamie article reminded me of why! So much bile - very unpleasant! On the Murray front, it's apparent that, for some reason, people will just not forgive Andy for his jocular remark to Tim Henman years ago about which country he supported in the forthcoming (at that time - 2006?) World Cup ("anyone but England") & that lack of forgiveness seems to have been transferred to Jamie.
I gave up after reading the voice of sanity expressed by someone called David:
The one thing Brits are the best in the world at .... knocking a Brit who has reached a top standard in their field and won tournaments on the world stage. I'd love to know what achievements these people have done.
At least some of the posters in the comments I did read seemed to be aware of Joe Salisbury's existence...
On the anti-Scottish argument, I'm with Richard, who posted:
English people don't enjoy Scotland losing. We either support Scotland, are ambivalent or literally don't care.
In an international event at which the individual interests of England & any of the other three home nations may be at stake (e.g. the World Cup or the Commonwealth Games), I literally don't care about the fate of the other three & lose interest if England goes out, but come the Olympics, the World Athletic Championships or the Europeans (or Wimbledon, the AO, the USO or Roland-Garros or any other tennis event), I root for Team GB.
I echo your congratulations to Jamie on his achievements in the course of his career & wish him well in any future ventures.
