Moving slightly off topic: You mentioned the she will be above Alex Walker on the tiebreak. What are the procedures when players have the same number of points? I've been meaning to ask for ages
For the WTA rankings, the tiebreaks are as follows, in order of priority:
- most points from slams, Premier Mandatory, Premier 5 and YECs combined
- most points from all WTA Tour events
- fewest tournaments
- highest points from a single tournament (if that still doesn't separate them, 2nd best scores compared and so on)
For lower-ranked players, that usually does reduce to fewest tournaments but it is not that unusual for lower-ranked players to have points in one of the first two categories, e.g. Brits who play in qualifying for Wimbledon or for one of the home WTA events.
