RE: Week 19 - ITF ($100K+H) - Cagnes-Sur-Mer, France Clay

She's had a long wait today. Hope it's still sunny and nice and the Riviera.

Some close games but Laura still loses the first set 1-6

Unusually she hasn't managed to hold her own service yet.

I wonder if Laura has retired after 2 points of the second set.

Earlier in the week a doubles match was won by retirement and it was left on livescore for ages. First serve is not firing, maybe an arm problem.

 Perhaps Rybarikova has retired  biggrin

She was struggling with her first serve in the second set aginst Catalina, looks like one match too many, it is after all her 7th consecutive day of matches, hopefully a bit of rest and she'll be fine.

I wish, no for me she can't serve at her maximum had an injury timeout at the end of the first then had another couple serves at the beginning of the second and thought this is pointless and has retired.

Now, if you'd gone down to the south of France instead of freezing your butt off in Newcastle we might be better informed

that's certainly the most logical explanation from the scoreline - but while we don't know we could be allowed to dream!!

True true, Costa del Newcastle does have its positives though.

It's now appeared officially on the tournament website singles drawsheet. Hopefully just fatigue as per Woking final last year.

It's frustrating that Laura had to retire again today. Perhaps 7 matches in 7 days was one too many, but on the other hand she needs to get matches under her belt and playing consistently was leading to Laura getting a few good wins.

Hopefully she will recover in time for the French Open qualies and the grass court season.
