Goodall out of Rennes, probably resting up before the GB futures the next week.
I seriously, seriously hope that he has better reason for that. Missing a challenger to rest for a futures would indicate an astonishing lack of ambition for someone ranked around about 200.
Yes. Got through qualifying and then won his first round.
If he is going to make Aussie Open qualies (his stated aim) he needs to get about 45 points from the rest of the year. If he is only going to play Glasgow, Cardiff futures plus the Loughborough Challenger that is a pretty big ask (especially with Baker and Goodall playing those two futures). Rennes seemed like the most obvious additional tournament for him.
I agree. I don't know whether he was intending to sign in for qualies or not but having reached the British Tour Final this week, he couldn't have done so anyway.
I find it more than a bit frustrating (and I assume some of the players do too) how often players are stuck playing British Tour to try to make some money when they could be being a bit more ambitious. It would be good if the LTA could find a way to at least make it cost neutral for players who aren't on Team AEGON between playing BTs and playing overseas events that could potentially be much better for their careers.
I assume that's the problem in most cases (i.e. that it's not a case of the players themselves having no ambition)

A little surprised to see that Evo hasn't made the short trip to Rennes. He will now drop 13 points next week and is leaving himself a lot to do in Glasgow, Cardiff and Loughborough to achieve his aim of making the Aussie Open qualifiers.
