Very good win for Colin and Ross.

How will this affect them getting into a tournament next week though?

They have to play the Final in KL on Sunday so they are going to miss the on-site sign in deadline to get into either Tokyo (2nd Alt) or Beijing (1st Alt) and possibly not get into either tournament.

This tweet from Colin shows his concern ...
Colin Fleming @colin_fleming Waiting to see how long our Asian Swing will last.
Currently 1 out of Beijing & 2 out of Tokyo.
On site sign in's tomorrow. #fingerscrossed

I assume one more withdrawal from Beijing or 2 from Tokyo will get them in direct without having to sign in, so here's hoping ...

Yes, it seems that is what Colin is hoping for too.

At least they have bagged plenty of points in KL, 150 for being Finalists already and + another 100 if they win.

Nice win for Flemchins!

Does seem a shame that success can have a negative impact on the next tournament.

Surely they can sign-in by phone from Kuala Lumpur?

I think they can. The question is whether they make it in or not. On-site acceptances often have a higher cut off than advance acceptances because of the amount of highly ranked singles players who make a last minute decision to play doubles.

Could they sign-in for both tournaments?

I would assume not but I am far from certain.

Final:   Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins vs (3) Alexander Peya & Bruno Soares (AUT/BRA)

The third seeds beat the second seeds, Bracciali & Melo (ITA/BRA), by 7-6(6) 6-1 earlier today.

Well that does confirm what I assumed, that you can sign in for "on site" acceptance without actually being on site. They boys were very lucky, they got the last on site slot for Beijing with their ranking of 72 and would have missed out in Toyko as the last slot went to WR 69.
