The scorecard is now available and it turns out that Sam served for the 1st set not 3 times (I only started half-following at 5-1*) but 4 times, i.e. at *5-0, *5-2, *5-4 and *6-5.
Sam served 7 double faults, Giovine served (wait for it ...) 24! There were 41 break points in the match, 20 of which were taken - Sam 11/25, Giovine 9/16.
The match lasted 2h 52m.
Conversely, Lisa looks to have served extremely well today.

Jade also won 7-6(4) 6-0 Clean sweep of victories today. All expected, per rankings, I suppose. However, Sam fought back well, and Jade had a convincing win over pretty a closely ranked opponent (don't think there's really a marked difference between #'s 449 & 503) Nice change. More in MD welcomed, and hopefully a badly needed win for Nomes!
Good for them - even if they are "expected" to win, they've still got to go out there and do it, which is often easier said than done! Let's hope that the success that Laura and Heather are having will rub off on the others too and spur them on!

I am not sure which of the twins is top seed, they are No.1 and 2 seeds and both listed as K. Pliskova on the Tennis Euro website. Karolina is the higher ranked this week.
Any idea what happened with Naomi re this tournament. Was down to play, but not in Q or MD. Probably withdrew, but not yet official on ITF or Tennis Europe. No news of injury either Just wondering.
Tara went 4-1* up in the 1st set against 7th seed Zaniewska, getting pegged back but then eventually winning it 7-1 in the tiebreak. She has just served for the match at *5-2 in the 2nd but been broken.

Impressive and convincing victory for Tara. Zaniewska is just about at her career high. Hopefully this signals a good end to the year, which she'll need, as she still has ~ of her points to defend before the end of the year.
