LTA Bonus

I say all this from a fans point of view.....I am sure a player may have another one!

The LTA provides a bonus scheme, designed to reward success, for those not funded for the year.  I am sure it'd be great to just increase the bonus's all round (and maybe they should) but if you were in charge of the pot, and for the sake of argument it had to be a similar size in total, what changes would you make to encourage greater success in the rankings.

Should there be more emphasis on entering higher tournaments for example, a higher bonus for quailfying at the expense of some of the futures payments?  Should it be different for a player over a certain age or, once past a certain level in the rankings?

Yes it is as far as I know. I just think players maybe at a certain level should perhaps get less for early futures rounds but more for qualifying and winning at challenger level. It so frustrating when challenger qualy draws come out and British players haven't entered yet I sympathise with the financial issues they must be facing. Thats said, a player lower down the rankings can hardly make ends meet at futures level and for them, the extra rewards as they build at futures level must be essential.

Ideally I'd just increase the pot full stop but, assuming that wont happen, I question whether one size fits all?????

How about increasing the amounts, adding ATP QR1/2 win payments, but limiting the number of times you can win each one to 10 times. e.g you reach a semi-final in your first 10 10k events and you get the SF bonus each time. If you do it a 11th time, you only get the QF bonus. Once you've exhausted all the bonuses for a particular level of event, you get nothing further for playing at that level.

Big thanks to @the_LTA for keeping up the Tournament Bonus Scheme this year. It has helped me massively and given me a chance to continue doing what I love. Id really be struggling to keep playing without it. Heres to keeping the dream alive

Never knew of this but it looks great. Presumably the actual amounts from 2012 have been updated since then? 9 years ago so hopefully a bit higher?

Yes, it's a really big part of their funding

The last sheet I saw was this one:

www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/play/player-pathway/tbs-may-2021.pdf

But others might know something even more recent.

The key thing this year was there was no cap

So its more than doubled in that time which is good , more than inflation. And doubles gets recognised now as well. Yes, definitely it would help a lot. Thanks CD

Looking at some of the figures at random for ITF singles winners, and those bonuses are 85 to 90% of the prize money, so significant sums.

So almost doubling their earnings in that case - do these players get a base level of funding as well, like a "retainer" linked to their status?
