Good stuff from Pippa. More a renewed star, given the prospect she looked a few years ago. Very early days still, but hopefully a good sign of things to come. Beating Lucy Brown in R1 was a good marker.
Anyway, only 24 GB women have more than the 4 ranking points she has so far earned this week. Of course, does need 3 scores ( or at least 10 points ) to achieve an official ranking.
Pity about the other 3 after each having competitive first sets. In particular, I hope Anna Smith is relatively OK after being out for so long.
Anna won 5-7 6-2 6-2 to ensure at least one British semifinalist. It also means that the only non-seeds left (Anna and Pippa) are British. Incidentally Pippa's 2010 Nationals success (which included a win over Lucy) was on hard courts at the NTC not here. Pippa has an ambitious target of WTA 500 according to an article I read earlier in the year

Thanks for correcting me, for some reason I thought they used to play the national junior comps down in Bournemouth.
