Laura on the point of beating herself again, this time in straight sets. Caroline watching on.
Caroline Wozniacki essentially getting the ball back and waiting to find out whether Laura wins each point or loses each point. Nothing more. Some good play and some cretinously naive play from Laura. Awful.
Woz played about 6 great points. The rest was Laura completely handing it to her with dreadful errors or completely naive shot selection. Very poor performance from Laura, just didnt even turn up.
Oh well, on to the grass. No Wimledon seeding now either, but lets all just hope that serve is being worked on, because she can have a sensational summer.
I think it's probably fair to say though that Caro got to world no. 1 by just playing accurately and watching multiple opponents self-destruct in much the same way as Laura did today.

She can still get seeded for wimbledon if she has a good run on the grass warm up matches or some of her competitors withdraw....
So disappointed, but not surprised. I had the feeling that Woz wasn't going to inspire Laura to play her A game. Woz just got more and more confidence too as Laura let her in with her UEs/DFs
Laura will certainly rue the missed opportunities in the first set, there she had break points in three games but only converted on one, which meant she couldn't get ahead when she was the better player early on. From 3-2 in the first set though, Wozniacki started playing really well and especially in the second set didn't give Laura much of a chance. Laura also got quite frustrated as the match went on and her decision making suffered as a result. On a clay court against such a good defender, Laura needs a better idea of when to go to the net to finish points off and better composure when she gets there, because hitting clean winners from the baseline is tough against a quick player in slow conditions.
Laura played a great game in the second set to get back to 4-2 but then she played two really poor games when it was imperative to challenge Wozniacki to close out the win.
