No surprise really. Playing grass court futures post Wimbledon is pretty pointless from a development point of view. I would have thought a week or two off followed by some hard court events would be more sensible.
I spoke to Kyle before his 1st round match at Eastbourne and that was his original plan to play a couple of GB future events. He wasn't sure of his schedule after that other than he would be heading stateside either to contest futures/challengers, before playing US open juniors.

Does that mean he has a couple of WCs up his sleave ?

Qualifying draw for Newport now out; no sign of Mr Bogdanovic. Count?
The Count will know better but Boggo tends to avoid tournaments if he has to go through qualifying. At this stage in his career, and after the injury problems he has had, managing his schedule and not playing too much is very important.

Boggo also hates Newport as the courts aren't great. Surprised he entered to be honest.

I have often wondered why more of the GB women dont enter the 2 WTA tournaments after Wimbledon? They invariably have weak fields and as has been said there wasnt even any qualifing in 1 of them this year, the other had to use additional WCs to fill its qualies. The only reason I can think of is red clay, none of the GB women are particularly fond of this surface, with one exception and when I saw that exception, namely Amanda Carreras had decided to rerturn to the UK for Wimbledon, I was hopeful that part of the reason was to enter one of these post Wimby WTA events, alas no, straight back to South America she went!
so few players there they had no qualies at a WTA level event
not heard that for a long time!!!
Not quite true. Due to the weather (flooding I think), the tournament felt unable to prepare the courts in time to cope with qualifying so it was cancelled a few days ago. Details are on tennisforum.
