RE: Who will be the new CEO of the LTA ?

Canada seems to be suffering from a Brain Drain to the UK

First it was Mark Carney and now Mike Downey.

You're quite right, steven.

Also, I don't know if you've got the time (almost certainly not) but most of these threads would actually be far better under the 'general tennis' topic i.e. the new CEO, or Roger Draper, or corporate funding, or whatever, has nothing specifically 'men's tennis' about it, in fact, quite the opposite - it's women's, junior, everything.

And it's good for the general tennis section, IMO, to have new threads - it makes people go on it and reminds people of old general threads.

Good idea - unless I'm looking for a specific old thread, I tend to just go from the recent posts screen so I don't often notice which topic each thread is listed under. I've now moved the three more general LTA-related threads from the past few days (it only took a few seconds), though I've left the ones mainly about Marcus and Lewis in the men's section. It should mean people who are only interested in the tournament threads can go to the men's or women's section and find what they want a bit closer to the top.

Steven. I just spent 10 minutes venting angrily regarding A1 (Gary's) latest post on juniors which he put in the men's section, but when I posted it, you'd already deleted the thread! My post included the expressions "deliberately obtuse", "unable or unwilling to consider other people", and "impenetrably stupid". You get the picture. I'm gutted! smilesmile

I skimmed your message and first thought those descriptions were of me for deleting the post. wink Actually, I don't remember deleting a new thread about juniors today - maybe one of the other mods got pushed past their tolerance threshold. I'm now quite sad that we missed it ...

Fascinating study of probably some of the "talents" it takes to be an entrepeneur - eg. just go for it, be persistent and don't take no for an answrr, have total belief in yourself, don't bother annoying other folk on the way, just get that message across ( and admit it guys, you're thinking about stuff like funding rather more than you were a couple of days ago ).

....plus clear traits, many the same, but also such as logical thinking, proper consideration and listening to other people, that would never have him an appropriate CEO for the LTA.

Mike Downey, Canadian CEO confirmed as LTA CEO. Must say he has not crossed my radar before

@NeilHarmanTimes He's been in the job for 9 years, Neil! Maybe doesn't feel the need to court the press, just gets on with it. Good sign.

Sounds like a great appointment, and at a cheap price, I wonder what his reasons are for taking up the job, obviously a great new challenge, but what else ? Was on a cushty number at TC.

Presumably he wants a new challenge after 9 years at TC (and maybe he thinks it's already about as good as it's going to get over there) and is probably being paid significantly more by the LTA, even if it's less than Roger got.

Lets hope not. The last thing British tennis needs is Greg Rusedski in a more prominent role.
