Naomi gone off the boil completely, and Carina has stepped up somewhat considerably.
The overall effect of that is something of an inevitability I fear

Make that 8 games in a row and 11 of the last 12 ... a sad end to an otherwise very positive week for Naomi:

Lets hope Naomi's not injured. We'll find out if she plays doubles or not.

She is scheduled to be off to Egypt next week for a 10k where she should be top seed and in line for what shoud be a great chance to pick up another 12pts.

Hope she's ok but when her serve goes her game goes as well. She has a habit of blasting first set but when opponents start to read her serve her game can disintegrate

I did not watch the final set, but she gave her racquet a bit of stick when she wasn't able to break back at the end of the 2nd set. Assuming she's healthy I'd guess at Naomi's frustrations allowing a more consistent and effective Carina to take advantage and get on a roll in the final set. Though this is speculation and those who actually watched it will probably be able to say something more authoritative.

i defo would agree with that last bit... in the past

but thats one of the bits whats been so good about her this week is that shes played beautiful all week with no let up even when her serve came under more and more presure as matches went on

not sure what happened today but she wasnt up to the level of earlier this week after the first set - she was hitting laser bolts in that first set

still think this a a real positive week for naomi and there are clear signs of improvement and more to come after this week i think she has a shot at shading past her CH and i dont think i wouldve said that with any confidence at the start of the year

looking forward to seeing what her next tournie brings

PS: for the record witthoeft was a stroppy old *wotsit* throughout and beat naomi hand down in the racket abuse stakes
