QR1: Johanna Konta WR 116 v (q17) Petra Martic (CRO) WR 98 (CH 42 in 2012)
H2H 0-1 - Martic won 2 & 3 in Copenhagen in 2012
The winner plays 4th Q seed Dellacqua or Tatishvili in the FQR.
QR1: (wc) Heather Watson WR 134 v (q7) Virginie Razzano (FRA) WR 83 (CH 16 in 2009)
H2H - first meeting
The winner plays 21st Q seed Pereira or Putintseva in the FQR.
Given that the new rankings came out before the Q draw, I though it was probably best to use them even though we don't usually do so for qualifying draws.
Under the new system, there are 20 points for a QR1 win and 30 (in total) for qualifying. Both players can only increase their ranking point totals here, even if they lose in QR1 (which obviously I hope they won't!):
- JoKo because you get 2 points for a QR1 loss and her last counter is currently a 1-pointer
- Hev because she has a mandatory 5-pointer after being a main draw direct entrant last year and losing in R1 - if she beats Razzano, she will replace it with at least 20 points and if she doesn't, she can replace it with her 17th best score, which is a 15 from Birmingham

Very favourable draws I feel for a Prem M, avoiding almost all the players in best form - Dellacqua in Joko's section, if at her AO level would be tough, but she's not played since then (Fed Cup excepted), so who knows.
Hope at least one can make it through.

Hmmm. You are more expert in these things than I, so I will go with your hopefulness. I tend to regard Razzano as one of those players who has good days and bad days - on a good day, she can beat anyone, and on a bad day, she's not an unusually serious threat. But maybe that it is inaccurate.
I have a soft spot for Razzano because of the so awful events in her life not that long ago - she has coped bravely and is very popular.
But I don't see her posing much threat in terms of tennis and would agree with AliB that she's definitely a 'good draw' for Heather.
Great draw for Heather, if she's fit - I'd love to see a big ding dong between her a Putintseva.
Yeah, me too
Watched Putintseva in a junior event - don't think I've ever seen such an aggressive young player - not just in the way she hit the ball, in the way she spoke to the opponent, the officials, and her opponents supporters, in her language, her gestures - honestly she had half of us neutral spectators cowing in fear, heaven only knows how her opponent felt !!!
Razzano looks in solid form this year, beaten a few good players, but not beaten players who you thought she might have beaten, so Hev is favourite but not an overwhelming favourite.
Martic is in poor form , but is capable of so much better, so could go either way, as AliBlahBlah pointed out though a match against Casey would be very tough assuming she has retained her early season form.

A pity the match would only be on livescores and not streamed - Putintseva is always 'entertaining'
I hear Putintseva is a bit subdued at the moment from her fire spitting demoness days.
She's really not playing been well at all for quite some time; affected by off court issues.
