I agree that Hev is probably in the best form of her career. Would be great if she could get a nice slot in the draw here and really make it count in a big tournament.
Even more satisfying for me is that there is more improvement to come given that she still has flat spots in matches because of the ongoing recovery from the tailend of the GF.
Just reward for having treated both impostors of triumph and disaster just the same over the last 18 months - with equal grace.
I fourth the sentiment that Heathers in best ever form. I thought it striking how well we saw her play in Midland, how improved her serve and ability to switch to attack was, and the overall quality of her point construction.
I don't really mind who she gets in the main draw, as even a match against Petkovic (to my mind the toughest possible assignment) would be a good yardstick for her progress.
Most of the potential draws though look like good chances for a Hev classic. Can''t hardly wait!
For Joko, certainly not outclassed and I have a feeling that she is finally realising that she does belong on these stages, and is every bit as good as these players, at least up to about 75-80, at least.
There's absolutely no reason why she can't get there, and I'm eagerly looking forward in hope to see her finally 'blossom'.
And so....
Heather draws Bencic - a danger to be sure - she was especially impressive on Fed Cup duty recently - and one of the less favourable draws to my mind.
Every chance for Hev though.
