RE: Week 11 - ITF ($10K) - Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

Great effort by Eden, but looks like she ran out of gas as the Russian took the final set 6-1.

Excellent week.

Hear, hear.

Shame for today but a really good two weeks with good wins and near misses against decent, ranked players (i.e. 'proper' points, well earned, not just a couple of points from a retirement and a lucky draw against the tournament director's daughter).

Enjoy today and onwards and upwards.

A fine effort from Eden on her 18th birthday and a very encouraging week, but it'll be up to Naomi to stop the Russian:

QF: (1) Naomi Broady WR 222 beat Madrie le Roux (RSA) WR 644 (= CH) by 6-3 3-6 6-1
QF: Eden Silva WR 1233 lost to (3) Marina Shamayko (RUS) WR 351 (CH 317 in Sep) by 7-6(1) 4-6 6-1

SF: (1) Naomi Broady WR 222 v (3) Marina Shamayko (RUS) WR 351 (CH 317 in Sep)

I'd forgotten how young Eden still is as she seemed to switch over to Seniors so quickly. To echo all of the comments already made, I'm really glad to see her both happier off and on court, and progressing at 10K level.

RE: Naomi's chances, I think Vitalia Diatchenko surely has got to be a big threat?

Would love Naomi to win the tournament bit although she has won her matches doesn't seem to have been easy

Looking through Naomi's records, she has made plenty of QF and SF appearances, but it has been an awful long time since she made a singles final.

Fitness issue? Pyschological issues? or just playing at tournaments where she is not expected to progress that far?
